Luke 24:33 - Additional Comments
Whatever purpose they had in traveling to Emmaus they quickly abandoned. This shows they probably would have stayed in Jerusalem if they had had a shadow of a belief that Jesus was still alive.
The 2 were apparently close to the apostles, for they knew right where they were, even though they were hiding from the Jews. There was probably not a large following of Jesus yet, compared to the numbers that grew at Pentecost (Acts 2:41).
The walk with Jesus must have been about midday, just a few hours after the tomb was discovered empty, for they still had 2 more hours to return to Jerusalem and find the eleven together.
