Luke 5:8 - Additional Comments

Peter, realizing Who he was now in the presence of, was embarrassed because of his sin. Yet Jesus came because of Simon's sin, to heal him.
Simon Peter, whose heart was always right, kept speaking in the wrong direction, or giving Jesus wrong instructions, like he did here. Also -
- Don't wash my feet; wash my whole body (John 13:8-10)
- I will not stumble; I will not deny you (Mark 14:29-31)
- Make 3 altars, for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah (Luke 9:33)
- Jesus told of His coming death, and Peter said it will not happen (and Jesus referred to the saying as from Satan) (Matt 16:21-23, Mark 8:31-33)
Yet Peter got the most critical question correct - Jesus is the Christ (Matt 16:15-16), and Jesus trusted Him with His church (Matt 16:18).
