Luke 7:38 - Additional Comments

Shortly (vs 47), Jesus says her sins are forgiven. When did she receive forgiveness? When she turned her heart to Jesus. I expect this had happened during His preaching, and that she finally was able to show it to Him. What we see here is the outpouring of her affection for what Jesus had already done for her. And why was she so emotional? Much had been forgiven (vss 41-44).
Yet, I believe, if we could truly see all that God has to forgive in our lives, that the pile of sin is tremendously huge, and without God all our goodness is as filthy rags (Isa 64:6), we might react in the same way she does. We have some sort of warped view that we really are pretty good people, otherwise we, too, would marvel at God's grace, and adore Him with tears. If only we could see ourselves as God did before forgiveness, and then see ourselves as God does after forgiveness. How we would adore Him with tears!
This reminds me of movies that show you 2 futures, vastly different, each taking a path based on a simple choice earlier. If you could, what would you see in your life if you'd not given your life to Christ? What would it be like?
Now, look into the future. What choices are you making today that will affect your future life, for the bad or the good?
