Malachi 3:4 - Additional Comments
Judah and Jerusalem had not been doing what is acceptable for a long time. Malachi was written 100 years after the return from Babylon. Judah and Jerusalem for a long time had failed God, had let Him down. But here God reflects to a former time when Judah loved God, when they sought God - in the former years, the days of old. That is when their offering was pleasant to the Lord. The new days will be like the old days when the Christ comes, to bring people back to Him, through the refining process.
The refining process is for those who love God a cause to rejoice in trials, so that they may become perfect and complete (James 1:2-4), to be able to present their offering in righteousness (vs 3).
