Mark 10:43 - Additional Comments

Don't most people at least want their 15 minutes of fame, their moment of greatness? They want to stand out in some way, respected by others. Respect is a good thing, and God has built a good trait in us to want respect and to be fulfilled when we get respect. But this same trait is often warped in us in wanting authority and power over others. Jesus says the right thing to do is to seek the opposite, not to look for others to serve us as the authority over them, but for us to actually lift other up and to serve them.
How much of a servant are you to others? I've heard it said that you can tell if someone has a servant's heart by how they feel and react when treated like one.
Do you actually have it as a goal in your life, in your daily walk, to look for how you can serve others?
In your family, do you lead by example, showing others how to serve? If everyone in your family served the others in the family as you do, what shape would the family be in? How about at your church? Your neighborhood, and your work? We are to be servants in all walks of life, as Jesus was - this was His purpose (vs 45).
