Mark 10:42 - Additional Comments

Jesus needed to address both the error in the ways of James and John, but also the anger of the other disciples. Who were the current Gentiles rulers? The hated and feared Romans. Jesus was saying the disciples that they were just like the Roman rulers. The Roman rulers force their ways and rules on the people - they aggressively force their authority over the people. This is the thing they were heading towards, that they were doing, but Jesus tells them this is not what He wants from them (vs 43).
