Mark 10:50 - Additional Comments

It would have been fun to see the excitement in Bartimaeus as he was told that Jesus wanted to see him - he probably tossed off his outer garment without care, leapt to his feet, and with great anticipation moved quickly towards Jesus.
Bartimaeus cast away everything that might be in danger of in any way hindering him in coming to Christ. As Heb 12:1 tells us, we who would come to Jesus must cast away the garment of our own sufficiency, stripping ourselves of all conceit, freeing ourselves from every weight and the sin that, like long garments, weigh heavily on us, so we too can run to Him.
