Mark 14:36 - Additional Comments

Hmm, Jesus asked for something, and God said no. Wow. God even says no to Jesus sometimes! This shows us that we need to understand and accept when God says no to us.
When faced with decisions, what are the typical priority factors? Some lean their decision towards personal benefit, that might bring the most money, prestige, etc. Some lean towards what will be best for their families. These people are able to put aside personal gain for the sake of those closest to them. Others may lean towards what will bring the most good to the most number of people. The interesting thing, is that if these factors are the highest priorities, they have missed the mark. The top priority should be making a decision that aligns with God's will. We should aim for God's will, allowing for these other factors their place in the decision. All these factors are okay, but underneath seeking what God wants.
We should pray this same prayer - tell God what you want, and then follow with "nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."
