There was no surprise. Jesus, in His godly knowledge, knew Judas was almost there with those who would arrest Him. No wonder Jesus was in such turmoil, so anxious. He not only knew about His arrest, but He probably could see everything that would take place over the next 24 hours. Yet He still did what He needed to do.
It is hard for us to go forward with God, and that is not knowing what is ahead. How much more difficult it would be if we knew there would be pain ahead! (e.g. the movie "Next", particularly where he gets hit in the jaw by the ex-boyfriend)
