Six days later, three of them did see it. Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain. His appearance changed from the inside out, right before their eyes. His clothes shimmered, glistening white, whiter than any bleach could make them. Elijah, along with Moses, came into view, in deep conversation with Jesus.

In Luke 9:28-36, we also read that
- they had come up to the mountain to pray
- Peter, James, and John had fallen asleep
- during Jesus prayer He was transfigured
- His face was altered
- Moses and Elijah also appeared in glory (hinting at the glory we shall have after our death)
- He was talking to Moses and Elijah about Jesus coming death
In Matthew 17:1-9, we also read that:
- Jesus face shone like the sun
- it was a bright cloud that overshadowed them
- Jesus referred to it as a vision
