Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

Mark 9:37 - Additional Comments

The people in Jesus' day did not place much regard with children (see 10:13). Children had a very low position. The principle here is not just for children, but for all people that you might not regard as you should. Whoever you receive, whoever you accept, whoever you value, whoever you love, you have not only done it to them, but to Jesus and God as well.
