Will your faith stand up in court? The U.S. Supreme Court has criteria set up in motion for testing someone's faith. For a faith to stand up under trial it must be:
1. A belief system beyond simple preferences - it is not a choice, like choosing which school your children will attend. (Acts 22:3-5)
2. A belief system beyond personal philosophy - it is not a theory you hold to (Acts 24:14-15; 28:23; 17:11)
3. A belief system which stands the test of convictions. Here are their criteria that would match their def. of conviction
a. True convictions are intimately related to daily living. It must permeate their entire way of life.
b. True convictions have a history - new converts are not accepted, nor a wavering faith (Rom. 14:1; I Pet. 2:2; Rom 10:17).
c. True convictions are personal - it must be mine, not my family's.
d. True convictions are preserved against pressure to conform (Rom. 12:1-2).
e. True convictions don't changing regardless of circumstances.
