Matthew 16:19 - Additional Comments

There is only one correct world view. Everyone must admit that, even if that worldview (to them) is that anyone can go to heaven in whatever way they please. Yet, if Jesus Christ is any part of that worldview, one must look at what and who He claimed to be. See John 14:6. He said you cannot go to heaven except through Him! How can this coexist with other beliefs, with other religions, and both still be true? If God is real, would He allow both to be true? If Jesus was not the only way, then He was wrong quite often -- how could He be a way to heaven? No, there is only one way to gain entrance to heaven, and that is through Jesus. And here, Jesus implies that since Peter understands that Jesus is the Christ, Peter now has the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever believes because of Peter, that person is loosed in heaven. And whoever does not believe, that person is bound, unable to gain entrance.
Peter receives the keys when he finally understands Jesus' purpose.
