Matthew 26:18 - Additional Comments

It appears this man was well known by them, for they simply needed to refer to Jesus as the Teacher (the Master).
Notice this was not a request, it was a statement. If only we would react to God this way, so instead of Him asking us to do something, He merely needs to say He has need for us to do something.
Boy, if only God's wishes cme to us so simply - a messenger comes to tell us God has something for us to do. But it's not, and that's why we need time with Him so He can tell us in a quet moment what He has for us to do. We need to ask Him daily, what have Your for me to do?
Note Jesus said "My time is at hand". The disciples had no idea what it was time for! Jesus had often spoke of what was to come, and He knew it would be that night.
I wonder what Judas thought when He heard this, knowing he was soon going to betray Him.
Have any of you been fired? How much notice were you given? How did it feel, between when you knew and when you actually left? Can you imagine how it must have felt to Jesus, knowing His time was at hand? How would it feel if someone told us beforehand of our time of death? (Many with terminal illnesses live somewhat in this state.)
