He was tempted, and he almost gave in. The best way to avoid sin is to avoid the things that tempt you. Recovering alcoholics stay away from bars for a reason. Think of the things that tempt you, or where you fall into sin. Are you doing all you can to avoid those?
Notice where Asaph's struggle was (vs 3). He was seeing the prosperity of the wicked, and wondering why they were not punished or in trouble (vs 4-5), and he desired the good things he saw them with.
