Romans 5:20

King James Version (KJV)

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

Translations

Romans 5:20 - Amplified Bible

But then Law came in, [only] to expand {and} increase the trespass [making it more apparent and exciting opposition]. But where sin increased {and} abounded, grace (God's unmerited favor) has surpassed it {and} increased the more {and} superabounded,

Romans 5:20 - American Standard Version

And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:

Romans 5:20 - Bible in Basic English

And the law came in addition, to make wrongdoing worse; but where there was much sin, there was much more grace:

Romans 5:20 - Darby Bible

But law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,

Romans 5:20 - English Standard Version

Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

Romans 5:20 - King James Version

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

Romans 5:20 - La Biblia de las Americas

Y la ley se introdujo para que abundara la transgresiòn, pero donde el pecado abundò, sobreabundò la gracia,

Romans 5:20 - The Message

All that passing laws against sin did was produce more lawbreakers. But sin didn’t, and doesn’t, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that’s the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life—a life that goes on and on and on, world without end.

Romans 5:20 - New American Standard Bible

The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

Romans 5:20 - Nueva Biblia Latinoamericana de Hoy

La Ley se introdujo para que abundara la transgresiòn, pero donde el pecado abundò, sobreabundò la gracia,

Romans 5:20 - World English Bible

The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly;

Romans 5:20 - Young's Living Translation

And law came in, that the offence might abound, and where the sin did abound, the grace did overabound,
