Romans 7:6 - Additional Comments

See Galatians 3:1-6. It is by faith we are considered righteous, not doing it by the works of the law. We have been delivered from any attempt at righteousness by obedience to the law.
Yet, our human tendency is to try to gain favor with God through what we do, by trying to follow His laws. The odd thing is we think it is being good that gets us in God's favor. Well, obedience does build our relationship with God, but it must be coupled with belief, confession, and repentance. Also, it is important to know God's Word, because that is knowing Him, and it is perfecting our understanding of what obedience truly is. It also helps us to understand how wretched we are (vs 24).
Gal 2:19 "For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God."
Gal 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the {life} which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."
Gal 2:21 "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness {comes} through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."
