This says 4 things about the churches in Macedonia:
1. They were under a great deal of affliction.
2. Despite the circumstances, they had an abundance of joy. It was overflowing. They were so full it spilled out into others lives.
3. They were in deep poverty, very poor.
4. Despite thier lack of money, their giving to others was rich.
Notice that they were burdened by the affliction and poverty, yet they did not focus on their problems, but were themselves so content, so full, that it overflowed to meet the needs of others. And with a great attitude, full of joy.
