Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

This is why we need other Christians in our lives, to wake us up. Sometimes we might wonder about events in our lives, and a Christian friend (or your spouse) says "Hey, do you think God is trying to tell you something?" We might laugh, but do we go off into the quiet and wait for God, and listen to Him?
