1 Corinthians 13:7 - Additional Comments

Love always protects - "to cover with silence"
* Protect the reputation of your spouse. Never share any of their weaknesses, struggles or embarrassing moments. Never put yourself in a compromising situation with another person. Protect your marriage!
* This love protects the reputation of your child. Don't talk about them in front of others in a negative way. It will crush their spirit.
* Never share anything without your child's permission.
* Don't discipline children in front of others - do it privately. If you humiliate them you will crush their spirit and close their heart toward you.
Love always trusts; (believes all things, hopes all things)
* Rather than having a negative and critical spirit, be always positive and hopeful.
* A critical spirit will shut down your spouse. An encouraging and uplifting spirit will make them warm and fun.
* Wives, let your husband know that you trust him both in his decisions in life and his commitment to you.
* Let your spouse know you look forward to growing "old" together.
* Children will believe what you say about them. If you tell them they are a failure they will eventually begin to believe it. Share with them your confidence in them.
* "My mother said to me, "If you become a soldier you'll be a general; if you become a monk you'll end up as the pope." Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso." - Pablo Picasso
Love always perseveres; (endures all things)
* This is a military term - it means to sustain the assaults of an enemy.
* Your spouse, child is NOT the enemy ... Satan is. He wants to rip your family apart and he can do it, if we are not careful to love our families the way God instructs us to love in His Word
* Don't "give up" on your spouse, your child. Let them know you are in this for the long haul. Love never fails (vs 8).
