1 Corinthians 16:2 - Additional Comments

Although the instructions here are for a specific cause (to be taken to Jerusalem - vs 3), the principles involved are of abiding value.
- The setting funds aside was to be done on the first day of the week. Here we have a strong indication that the early Christians met on that day, to celebrate the resurrection, rather than the Sabbath.
- These instructions were for every individual, no matter what their financial status was. All were to have a part in sacrificial giving.
- This giving was to be done systematically - on the first day of each week. It was not to be haphazard, or reserved just for special occassions.
- The giving was to be proportinate, based on how you have prospered.
