Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

During any down time, you need to make sure that both the husband and wife are in agreement that this is an appropriate down time, otherwise you will have resentment. It's okay to talk about it. But be careful about the length of the down time, because Satan will have an opportunity.
Notice what activity should be taking place during the down time? Fasting and prayer. It is very important to spend time with God during down times, to keep your attitude in check, and to keep your heart focused on the right things. Make that your priority - fasting and prayer, to avoid the snares of Satan.
