You heard this when you became a Christian, and you continue to hear it, because it is central to what it means to be a Christian.
This is how people can know we are Christians (John 13:35).
List who you love. Then, list who God loves. Is there a difference? Why?
Once we become a Christian, love is natural with the Spirit in us, but it is also required and commanded of us. How can we obey, and love one another? The only way -- (Matt 16:24) selflessness -- deny self, and follow Christ. How is this manifested? See 1 Cor 13.
