The word "adorn" is the Greek verb "kosmeo", which translates into the English word "cosmetic". The word means "to arrange" or "to put in place." God knows women want to adorn themselves. You can be adorned, but it needs to be in balance. Your main focus should be to glorify God, not yourself. You glorify Him by being presentable, without too much attention. The focus should regularly be (verse 4) on the hidden beauty of the heart.
External beauty is temporary and quickly fading. Internal beauty is eternal and grows better with age (if paid attention to). This is a test of a woman's true quality. What is your quality? A woman needs to be valued. Her husband needs to marvel at what gives her true quality.
