1 Peter 5:6 - Additional Comments

God's battle is with the proud, but God lifts up the humble. The humble take their low position, but God lifts them up to a much higher position.
What if you did clothe yourself in humility, if it became your lifestyle, your life? You would be in the ranks with Mother Teresa, who would not accept anything for herself. You may not get your dreams, but you'd have gotten God's dreams. And how does God react? He exalts this person, raising him up high. This person is to be praised.
But be careful!! Don't show humility so God can exalt you. Then you've lost your humility, because you are doing it so you can get the lofty position up high!
Would you like to hear all the benefits of being humble? Maybe not, because then selfishness might cloud efforts towards humility.
God will certainly, as He has promised, bring down the proud out of any exalted position they've tried to assume; and so, he will surely, as He has promised, raise up the humble from the lowly position they've assumed.
Considering who God is and His omnipotence should make us humble before Him, anyway.
Again, if you are looking to God's exaltation because of your humility, you may have already lost it. God's says this exaltation will come "in due time". Who knows, this exaltation may not (and probably won't) come until after this life. So, don't be humble because of the benefits to you, be humble because of the benefits to others!
