2 Corinthians 7:9 - Additional Comments

Notice the distinction between being sorry and repentant. Sorry is feeling bad about what was done, whereas repentance is a decision to turn from it, to do better. Being sorrowful in a godly manner (vs 10) leads to repentance which is the foundation for salvation. The other sorrow, the sorrow of the world, does not lead to change, to do the right thing, and it leads to death.
Repentance has results, as desribed in vs 11 - the results are diligence to change, indignation over the sin, fear of God, vehement desire to to what is right, zeal for the things of God, and a need to correct the wrong (vindication / punishment). And, they did it with focus (vs 11 - they were clear in the matter).
