But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

False teachers often have a part of truth to make it seem like the truth. If none was true, we would easily disregard it (like the Heaven's Gate folks in California who followed the comet & Applegate & killed themselves).
This makes it deceptive, like Satan, who comes as an angel of light to bring darkness.
False teachers don't realize that they are not only bringing destruction on their followers, but even more on on themselves.
Note that there are many who are ready to follow false teachers. You must know the truth to know what is false.
