2 Peter 2:2 - Additional Comments

False teachers may have many followers. Number of followers does not indicate whether the teachings are true or false. In fact, false teachers may get more followers since they appeal to sensuality, what feels good (verse 18), what makes sense from man's point-of-view (Proverbs 14:12).
Blaspheme is the opposite of reverence, which shows love, respect and awe. Blaspheme mocks, brings down. They blaspheme the truth. By their mouth, people are drawn away form Jesus, people who may have actually been considering becoming a Christian. In the same way that heaven rejoices when someone becomes a Christian (Matt 18:12-13), you can imagine how heaven reacts when someone is drawn away from Christ.
