They are willing to lie to draw you to their way. It is their selfishness, not of concern for you, that motivates them. Numbers of followers is important to them. We need to avoid that same temptation.
No matter how successful a false teacher is, they still will face certain judgment, as the verses that follow show -- God will not withhold his judgment on them.
