"Heart" means the center of your feeling, emotions, thoughts. This is where Christ is to dwell in us. He is to be the center of our feelings, the center of our emotions, the center of our thoughts. He is to be Lord of these. What places Him there? Our faith. As we continue to give our live to Him through faith, He takes more control and is more at the center.
When you plant a tree, how critical is it that the ground the tree is planted in has good soil with good nutrients, otherwise it will not grow strong, or will not grow at all. What is the basic nutrient for our growth? Love. But notice, it is not us being required to love, but it is the love of Christ (vs 19).
