Galatians 4:26 - Additional Comments

The freedom we have in Christ is two-fold. First, we are free from the law, and no longer in bondage to having to obey it to receive favor with God. Second, we are free to obey. In the world one is bound to iniquity (Acts 8:23) and the resulting pain, whereas in Christ we are free to do what God wants. Without Christ we have no choice, as one who is handcuffed, but with Christ, the Holy Spirit gives us the power to make the right choices. Without Christ, one carries the burden of not being able to do what is right; what freedom we have in Christ to be able to choose.
In bondage, the only results of your actions can be failure and destruction. In freedom, we now can choose the path that leads to life, riches, and success.
Isn't it amazing that, given this freedom, we so often choose the path of bondage? Every time we give in to sin, we had on out - it's promised in 1 Cor 10:13. This is our freedom. Whenever we give in to sin, we reject the path God has given us, and go back into bondage.
