Galatians 6:3 - Additional Comments
Paul is very bold in his teachings in Galatians. Paul described his approach to his bold teachings to them, in 2 Cor. 1:24 - "Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy." Paul is teaching them so that they may have joy.
Pride, self-reliance, self-exaltation, self-seeking - there is only one basic moral issue: how to overcome the relentless urge of the human heart to assert itself against the authority and grace of God.
The battle against pride and self-exaltation in our hearts is a battle for joy. It seems to be a paradox - when you are selfish, seemingly grabbing the things that you would enjoy the most, things for self, is when you have the least joy. And when you give up for others, this is when you have the most joy.
We are nothing outside of what God has given us - 1 Cor 4:7. Yes many feel their rights have been violated. What rights do we have? What is it that we deserve? See how loving God has been that we don't get what we deserve? - Psalm 103:10, Lam 3:39-40.
