Genesis 3:10 - Additional Comments

Isn't this how all men respond? Revealing nothing more than what is so obvious it can't be denied. Men are most unwilling to divulge undiscovered sin - even if the sin is obvious to others, as it was obvious to God here that they had eaten from the forbidden tree. Then how can men be truly accountable? By asking the tough questions, and then asking if the answers were lies. Anyone still hiding the sin will burn with guilt if they are Christians and their hearts aren't hardened.
It is by the deceitfulness of sin that the heart is hardened - Romans 7:11, Hebrews 3:13.
God was the one asking - did they expect God didn't know all already? And yet they tried to hide the truth. So too, when we try to justify sin to God, instead of confessing. And God knows the heart - and these were not penitent confessions.
