Genesis 3:6 - Additional Comments

Sin entered into the world at this point, and thus spread to all men -- Romans 5:12.
How deceptive the fruit looked -- it didn't look evil, or wrong! How deceptive sin is so many times to us!
With all the fruits available, she may never have eaten from this particular tree -- but because the fruit was forbidden, it took on an extra attraction.
She felt she was not wise enough, that there was a wisdom out there that could really open here eyes. For us, Christ is the sufficient wisdom (Col 2:3, 1 Cor 1:30), and beyond that we don't need the wisdom of the world -- it can only serve but to taint us, and drag us down.
Notice the steps she took. These are steps into the pit, not into glory. Picture it. This is how we fall into sin. Typically there are multiple steps we've taken to get there -- not just one step. Each step is a chance to turn back, to get on the staircase leading up.
She let her eyes wander, as the first step. Have you made a covenant with your eyes, that it would not be the first step? It typically is. And this is always the easiest of steps to turn from, for the further down the staircase, the more difficult to turn (as was the case when Eve had the fruit in her hand.)
The sin was not just the sin of eating the forbidden fruit, but it also was the sin of disobedience (Rom 5:19).
Sometimes when family members or close friends sin, it is very easy to justify it yourself. If they are doing it (and "getting away with it"), you ask what's wrong with you doing it also? Be strong, be who God wants you to be, independent of what others are doing.
With temptation we always have a choice (1 Cor 10:13). Eve took the fruit and ate, and so did Adam. Find the correct choice, and take it.
