Genesis 3:8 - Additional Comments

What did it sound like? Did they hear footsteps? How did God appear to Adam and Eve? Note in verse 10 Adam refers to this sound as Adam having heard God's voice.
They hid themselves -- the realization and shame as a result of the sin. When we sin we may have visions of good things, but it only leads to pain and guilt and trouble.
How obvious now are the fallacies of the words from the tempter. Instead of being advanced, they were abased. They were not like God, but like criminals.
They were afraid. Afraid of what? Of the Judge. But there is no fear of judgment unless there is guilt, and then now carried guilt. You should never be afraid in front of ruling authorities - if there is no guilt, there is not fear before them (Rom 13:3-5).
What a sad change - before if they had heard His voice, they probably came running to Him, and now they hid in fear. What is your life like, that is reflected by how you react when you hear God? Is His voice welcome, or a cause of fear?
