Isaiah 6:8 - Additional Comments
Here is the trinity - they, "Us", are looking for someone to be their messenger, their voice, their ambassador.
What is remarkable is that in verse 5 we see Isaiah's lament because of the evil of his mouth, yet he has fully embraced not only God's forgiveness, but also God's power, that God can use Isaiah's speech to be His messenger.
We may also cry out in anguish over our sin, as we look at the perfect and holy God, yet His requirements for perfection, for righteousness, is actually fulfilled in us... through Christ.
So, knowing that we are not perfect, and knowing that we are forgiven, do you know that God wants to use you? You, specifically? Do you know that God has specific things for you to enhance His kingdom? Do you ever think there is not much you can do? Consider these things that you can do.
- Deliver food or a small present to someone else, impromptu, no reason.
- Offer to do nursery for someone scheduled to - let them go to church.
- Write a note to someone, telling them something you appreciate about them. Big gains on this one.
- Come to church prepared to worship. We can minister to God (and others) through worship.
- Come to Sunday School prepared. Be ready to minister in class, not just attend.
- Tell someone you will pray for them. Do it regularly. Check up with them to see what God is doing in their life.
- Babysit for other families. Call them, tell them to pick an evening. Do it also for a weekend!
- Write a note to a servant in the church (kid's teacher, usher, deacon, pastor, etc.), telling them what you appreciate about their ministry.
- Know a single-parent family? Spend time with the children, showing them God, filling some of their gap. Give some free time to the parent.
- Someone's car broke down? Lend them yours, even if it's inconvenient for you.
- Bring bagels by someone's house early in the morning.
- Pay attention to who hasn't been to church or Sunday School in a few weeks, and call them.
When Isaiah answered "Here am I", all he did was to say yes at one point in time that he would allow God to lead him to help others. Now, God asks you, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?"
