Isaiah 7:12 - Additional Comments

Ahaz had been rebelling against God. Why did he suddenly become so pious? He was merely pretending, to in reality avoid what God had to say and wanted him to do. What excuses to people make to avoid God? What excuses do you make?
Ask: why does Ahaz tell God he does not need a sign (and therefore seem so noble)?
Let me ask you - what if you actually believed in God, but did not want to obey, did not want to align your life as He wished? What would you do? Wouldn't you push away any sign of God, any realization of His presence? It is so much easier to ignore God when you don't see Him active in your life or around you.
Have you, maybe unknowingly, kept God at a distance, so you would not have to deal with what He wants from you? God has revealed His truth to you - listen to Him.
