John 6:11 - Additional Comments
This reminds me or lunches at Promise Keepers, where they feed 10-15,000, and how much food that is.
This wasn't exactly a gourmet meal, and may not have been food that some wanted, even though this was a very common meal in that area. Nowadays, would some leave because it wasn't the food they wanted? When Jesus serves up your plate, how do you react to what He has fed you, what He has given you?
Why use the boy's food? To show that when we offer our resources and our talents to Jesus, He multiplies them many times over. God would rather take what we have an multiply it than create something from nothing. That is why it is so critical that we make ourselves and our resources available to God, to give Him that catalyst He wants to use for multiplication.
How much did God multiply the offering? What little do you have to offer? Think of what God could do with it, if you would only make it available to Him, as this boy did. Remember, the boy had the food, and must have offered it for use, instead of keeping it for himself or his family.
