Joshua 1:2

Joshua 1:2 - Additional Comments

God tells Joshua to take the nation of Israel, finally, into the Promised Land (Gen 17:8). This promise of ownership of the Promised Land was unconditional, but their possession of it was - they had to obey God, fight battles for Him, and take possession of the land. Israel obviously had mixed success doing these things.
The Jordan (meaning "descender") flows (1300 ft. below sea level) into the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. It flows 200 miles because of its serpentine curves, even though it seems much shorter than that.
