Jude 1:4 - Additional Comments

We are to hold fast the truth (see truth.doc), and endeavor to teach it to others. God has revelaed it to us, and He is the main subject of it; therefore we are bound to learn all we can of His person, nature, and offices -- indifferences to this is inexcusable in any who call themselves Christians.
The poison these men brought had gone unnoticed. They and their poison had actually settled in, and become part of the group. How much poisin infiltrates our lives, and goes unnoticed?
They have distorted the faith (see Romans 6:1-16). Some sin saying that grace covers it. They are not concerned. This is "turning the grace of our God into lewdness", or into "a license for immorality" (NIV). God has them "marked out for this condemnation" -- ironically, the grace they were resting in was not there.
Deut 13:1-11 tells how God feels towards those who distort the truth, who draw others to false gods -- they are to be put to death.
