Luke 1:7 - Additional Comments
Basically, Elizabeth was beyond the childbearing years. Yet, we know her desire was to have a child of her own, because she considered not having a child a reproach (verse 25). It is okay to have goals, to want certain things, to yearn for things, for God loves to give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4). God loves to turn our circumstances around to His glory - to comfort all who mourn, to give beauty for ashes, to give the oil of joy in place of mourning, to give the garment of praise in place of the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:2-3). This is what God wants for us! Not only for His glory, but also so those under trial may be comforted (2 Cor 1:3-4).
