Matthew 2:1 - Additional Comments

All over men awaited His arrival as the King to be. He could have arrived in the richest of circumstances, and no one would have questioned it. He deserved all the fanfare and riches and praise possible, with the high and the mighty of the world at His feet. All of heaven was treating Him as such (Luke 2:13-14). Yet, to show why He was here, in humility as a servant, He arrived in this humble place, to a family of humble means. He also came where very few noticed or even knew of His arrival. As we are to do, He denied Himself for the sake of others. His denial was complete (100%), and the benefit of others was at a maximum.
He hid His great power, yet he had horns/rays (signifies power) coming out of his hand (Hab 3:4) enough to condemn the world, and the Jews especially, for their rejection.
See notes on Herod in Acts 12:1.
The magi (wise men) had traveled long distances, endured weather and robbers, had left their comfort zone, & gave up a huge amount of time. What a sacrifice to see Jesus.
