Philippians 1:7

King James Version (KJV)

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

Translations

Philippians 1:7 - Amplified Bible

It is right {and} appropriate for me to have this confidence {and} feel this way about you all, because you have me in your heart {and} I hold you in my heart as partakers {and} sharers, one {and} all with me, of grace (God's unmerited favor and spiritual blessing). [This is true] both when I am shut up in prison and when I am out in the defense and confirmation of the good news (the Gospel).

Philippians 1:7 - The Message

It’s not at all fanciful for me to think this way about you. My prayers and hopes have deep roots in reality. You have, after all, stuck with me all the way from the time I was thrown in jail, put on trial, and came out of it in one piece. All along you have experienced with me the most generous help from God. He knows how much I love and miss you these days. Sometimes I think I feel as strongly about you as Christ does!

Philippians 1:7 - New American Standard Bible

For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.

Philippians 1:7 - World English Bible

Philippians 1:7 - Young's Living Translation

according as it is righteous for me to think this in behalf of you all, because of my having you in the heart, both in my bonds, and [in] the defence and confirmation of the good news, all of you being fellow-partakers with me of grace.

Philippians 1:7 - Additional Comments

Whether Paul was in prison or out defending the gospel, he knew the Philippians were fellow recipients of the grace of God.
This grace is God giving them blessings that they didn't earn or deserve. Paul, in all his service to God, will was not worthy outside of grace. But, in grace, he has received all the blessings of God. We are in the same situation, unworthy outside of grace, fully blessed in grace.
We, too, are partakers with Paul and the Philippians of grace!
