1 John 4:8 tell us that God is love. 1 John 4:10 tells us that He loves us so much He sent His son to die for out sins. 1 John 4:16 tells us we can know God's love for us.
What an amazing thing, that the God of ths universe loves you! Also amazing is when one person loves another person with this same deep love! We see here Paul has this love for the Philippians, the affection of Jesus Christ.
1 John 4:7 - "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God." Love is one of the evidences you have God in your life.
If you were in a court of law, and they were presenting the evidence that you have this type of love for others, , what would be presented? Would they be able to find any evidence?
Agape love is one of the fundamental character traits and activities that needs to be part of our lives as we live for God and do His will. I would venture to say this is an area of need in most of us. Pray today that God would build His love in you for others.
Also, as Paul does (verse 9), pray this for others - but with a humble spirit, not "wow, that person needs to love more, just look at how they are acting!"
