Philippians 2:5 - The Message
Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didnt think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didnt claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.

Philippians 2:5 - Additional Comments
It further explains the attitude, the mind set we are to have. There was no selfishness, no self seeking, only a passion for others, consistently, all the time, completely (Mark 10:45). Even in the most emotional time of His life, His prayer before his arrest, He was seeking their benefit (John 17:20-21).
Jesus hands were worn from serving others. One day, when I shake his hand, may my hands not be soft with ease, but be marked by the marks of serving others.
