Philippians 2:6 - Additional Comments
"being" or "existed" - this word denotes prior existence (John 1:1, Col 1:17). From all eternity the Son was co-existent, co-equal, and co-eternal with the Father. Christ is "the express image of God" (Heb 1:3). Christ is not merely like God; He is God (John 1:1-3,14; Col 2:9, Heb 1:8, Isaiah 9:6, Rev 1:17-18).
No creature can have the form of God, only Christ. Satan wanted this (Isa 14:12-14).
"robbery" indicates something one does not own or deserve, yet takes without permission. It was completely appropriate for Jesus to be equal to God, for He owned it, He deserved it, it was completely His.
